How much you can borrow

Your loan amount is based on the market value of your pledged securities, capped at 45% of that value. The minimum is Rs. 25,000 and the maximum is Rs. 10 crore.

Your loan amount depends on the current market value of the securities in your demat account, calculated using the previous day's closing price.

The lending limit

  • As per RBI rules, NBFCs can lend up to 50% of the value of the securities pledged.
  • Zerodha Capital keeps this limit at 45%, so a small dip in your security value (0.1% to 5%) does not immediately trigger shortfall alerts.

For example, if your securities are worth Rs. 1,00,000, the maximum loan available is Rs. 45,000.

Minimum and maximum loan amounts

  • Minimum loan amount: Rs. 25,000
  • Minimum top-up loan amount: Rs. 2,500
  • Maximum loan amount: Rs. 10 crore, including the initial loan and every top-up taken under the same active loan account

How your eligible amount is shown

During onboarding, eligible securities are fetched automatically from your holdings based on the approved list. The exact loan amount available against each security is shown upfront. You choose which securities and how many units to pledge, and your final loan amount is displayed instantly.
